Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner 'walked out' of Oscars following ballet and opera jokes
· GOSS.ieTimothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner reportedly “walked out” of the Oscars, after being the butt of ballet and opera jokes.
Marty Supreme star Timothée was nominated for Best Actor at this year’s Academy Awards, but ultimately lost out to Sinners actor Michael B. Jordan. Despite being nominated in nine categories, Marty Supreme walked away with zero trophies.
During the ceremony, Timothée was mocked multiple times for recent comments that he made about ballet and opera forms, in which he claimed that “no one cares” about them.
In his opening monologue, Oscars host Conan O’Brien exclaimed: “Security is very tight tonight. There’s concerns about attacks from the ballet and opera communities.”
Alexandre Singh, who won Best Live Action Short Film for Two People Exchanging Saliva, also said during his speech: “We believe art can change people’s souls. Maybe it takes ten years, but we can change society through art, through creativity, through theatre and ballet — and cinema.”
A new report has now claimed that Timothée and his partner, reality star Kylie Jenner, “walked out” during the ceremony.
A source told The Sun that the couple left the ceremony for an hour.
They stated: “Timothée and Kylie were replaced by seat fillers for an hour. It seems like he had enough of being the butt of the jokes.
“They only came back just before the Best Actress and Best Actor categories were announced,” they added.
Timothée and Kylie later attended the annual Vanity Fair after-party, but onlookers went on to report that they exited the celebrations “without being seen”.
An insider told The Sun: “Timothée was swarmed by well-wishers as he arrived. He kept his sunglasses on for most of the night and tried to be low-key, but he stood out like a sore thumb in his white suit.
“Kylie and him stayed for a while but then left together without being seen. It was the Irish exit he wanted — and needed,” they stated further.
Earlier this month, Timothée spoke to fellow actor Matthew McConaughey for CNN & Variety’s Town Hall Event, where he made his now-viral comments about ballet and opera.
“I don’t want to be working in ballet or opera or things where it’s like, ‘Hey! Keep this thing alive, even though no one cares about this anymore.’ All respect to the ballet and opera people out there,” he said.
Laughing, the 30-year-old added: “I just lost 14 cents in viewership. I just took shots for no reason.”
As Timothée continued laughing, Matthew responded: “That’s not a shot. I hear what you’re saying.”
