Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley will return to their homeland to attend the Dublin premiere of Hamnet this weekend.

The Irish stars will be present at the screening of Chloé Zhao’s acclaimed Shakespeare drama Hamnet at the Light House Cinema on Saturday, 13 December.

Director and co-screenwriter Zhao and author Maggie O’Farrell will also be in attendance.

Set in 1580s England, Hamnet follows impoverished Latin tutor William Shakespeare as he meets free-spirited Agnes.

The pair, captivated by one another, strike up a torrid affair that leads to marriage and three children.

Yet as Will pursues a budding theater career in far-away London, Agnes anchors the domestic sphere alone.

When tragedy strikes, the couple’s once-unshakable bond is tested, but their shared experience sets the stage for the creation of Shakespeare’s timeless masterpiece, Hamlet.

Earlier this week, Paul and Jessie both received Golden Globe nominations for their performances in Hamnet.

Jessie was shortlisted for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama, while Paul was nominated for Best Supporting Actor.

Hamnet will hit Irish cinemas on January 9th, 2026.
