Popular British actor 'targeted' by Celebrity Traitors bosses as ‘star signing’ for next season
· GOSS.ieA popular British actor has reportedly been targeted by Celebrity Traitors bosses as a “star signing” for the next season of the hit BBC show.
Following the success of the first season, bosses are reportedly trying to get Stephen Graham to join the show after national treasures Stephen Fry and actress Celia Imrie were huge successes in the first series.
In the first season, Alan Carr went all the way, convincing the Faithfuls he was one of them, before taking all the money at the end, revealing himself as a Traitor from the beginning.
An insider told The Mail on Sunday: “They are absolutely desperate to nail down Stephen for the show. He would be their star signing.”
“He is one of the most formidable actors of our generation, and the nation adores him, but no one really knows what he’s like as a person, so there is a definite hunger among viewers to see what he is like in a more reality-based setting.”
The 52-year-old scored global success last year after co-creating and starring in Adolescence, the drama that prompted widespread debate about online misogyny, incel culture and the “manosphere.”
The hit series went on to win eight Emmy awards and four Golden Globes.
Other stars rumoured to appear on the next series of The Celebrity Traitors include Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden, Gavin & Stacey’s Ruth Jones, comedian and actress Daisy May Cooper, and League of Gentlemen star Steve Pemberton.
However, one star has shut down speculation that she is set to appear on the second season.
Alison Hammond was among the big stars rumoured to be in talks with producers to join the BBC reality gameshow.
However, speaking on The Jonathan Ross Show, the 51-year-old confessed: “I can’t do it because I’m doing Bake Off.”
“I think it’s the same time when I’m doing Bake Off, so that’s a definite no,” she added.
She continued: “I’m so sorry, I would love to do that. I wouldn’t want to be a traitor though, I’d want to be a faithful. I don’t want no stress.”
