Drew Henry Makes a Promising Debut at Courrèges for Spring 2027

Drew Henry had quite the career going before taking over at Courrèges in March, 2026. He studied fashion design at Central Saint Martins, graduating in 2014 and going on to work behind the scenes at Phoebe Philo’s Céline, JW Anderson, Phoebe Philo, and, finally, Burberry, where he served as senior design director under Daniel Lee from 2023 until his departure. Working under such talented titans of the fashion industry clearly served him well as his debut collection for the house of Courreges was a good one — sleek and futuristic, of course, but also playful (occasionally verging on the silly) and with a wonderful sense of color throughout — something that was often lacking in the work of his predecessor, Nicolas Di Felice.

The suits were standouts with their bold colors, frayed edges, and styled as they were with thick leather belts undone and hanging loosely in front.

The monochromatic leather patchwork pieces were also strong, particularly the cream coat that walked early in the show — who wouldn’t want to wear that? — and the navy and black high-waist trousers that came closer to the end with their sexy off-axis snap-front closure.  The pants, in general, were excellent, especially when paired with more structured tops, the better to highlight their lovely drape.

There were some misses as well: a pair of navy dresses layered one on top of the other read as rather slovenly and it’s hard to believe those cuffed capri pants are going to look good on anybody. And while the trio of short A-line dresses that peppered the show felt like an appropriately mod nod to the brand’s history, choosing to show them on male models felt needlessly gimmicky. Forced, even.

Still, it was a good collection overall. Less overtly sexy that the work of Henry’s predecessor and with more of an emphasis on daywear. And while a little more sex appeal certainly wouldn’t go amiss, there was a definite sense of fun and experimentation there that is always nice to see and has us genuinely excited for what Henry does next.
