Grants for teachers bring something good to North Texas classrooms

Dallas-based TSG Restaurants awarded the grants in a new campaign called Together for Teachers.

Almost three dozen teachers around North Texas got something good that brought a little boost to their classrooms.

Teachers in 31 schools got 250 dollar grants from Dallas-based TSG Restaurants and McAlister's Deli.

• One teacher used the funding to launch Leopard Brew, a student-run classroom coffee shop, where students practice customer service, communication, money management, and other vocational and life skills.

• Another teacher invested in podcasting equipment that will allow students to tell their stories, debate ideas, and build communication and public-speaking skills.

• A first-year teacher used her grant to transform an empty classroom into a more welcoming environment for her students.

The campaign called Together for Teachers was a first for the restaurant group.
