A North Texas community will come together Saturday to remember 6-year-old Noel Rodriguez-Alvarez, whose disappearance and death touched the hearts of residents across the region.

The city of Everman will host a public candlelight vigil in Noel's memory on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 6 p.m. at Clyde Pittman Park, located at 300 Wichita St.

The gathering comes as Noel's family prepares for a private funeral.

Residents attending the vigil are encouraged to wear light blue, Noel's favorite color, as a tribute to the young boy.

Noel's remains were discovered in May, buried on the property where he lived with his mother, Cindy Rodriguez, who has been charged with capital murder.

Saturday's vigil will take place near the Noel Angel-Alvarez Playground, an inclusive playground named in his honor by the Everman City Council in 2023.

The playground was established as a lasting tribute to Noel and a space where children of all abilities can experience the joy of play, friendship and community.

City officials are inviting the public, first responders, law enforcement partners, community organizations and members of the media to attend the gathering.

The event will offer an opportunity for those who have followed Noel's story over the years to remember his life and show support for his family.
