Remedy Bets on Biggest Marketing Push Yet as Control Resonant Faces Crowded September Launch
by Matt Lawrence · OnMSFTRemedy Entertainment is preparing its biggest marketing campaign ever for Control Resonant as the studio gets ready for a highly competitive September 2026 release window. The upcoming action RPG launches on September 24, the same day as Silent Hill: Townfall and just one day before Onimusha: Way of the Sword, placing it among several major releases competing for players’ attention.
Despite concerns about the crowded schedule, Remedy remains confident in its strategy. The studio believes delivering a polished game at launch is more important than avoiding competition. According to Remedy Communications Director Thomas Puha, the team selected the release date based on what was best for the game’s development rather than external factors.
Puha explained that game quality remains the studio’s top priority because players quickly judge a title based on its launch condition. He also revealed that Remedy is backing Control Resonant with the largest marketing campaign in the company’s history, while highlighting its competitive pricing and promising additional promotional activities in the coming weeks.
The launch is especially important for Remedy following mixed commercial results from some of its recent projects. While Alan Wake 2 eventually recouped its development costs after selling more than two million copies, that milestone took over a year to achieve. Meanwhile, the multiplayer title FBC: Firebreak failed to gain long-term traction.
Control Resonant enters the market with several major changes compared to the original Control. The game shifts from a shooter to an action RPG, introduces Dylan Faden as the main protagonist, and moves the story to a corrupted version of New York instead of the Federal Bureau of Control’s Oldest House headquarters.
With strong brand recognition, a new gameplay direction, and Remedy’s largest marketing effort to date, Control Resonant will soon face its biggest test when it arrives this September.
