Taylor Swift files trademark applications to protect against AI
by Juliet La Sala · The Washington TimesPop music star Taylor Swift has filed new trademark applications for two voice clips and one image to protect herself against artificial intelligence threats, multiple news outlets report.
The “Anti-Hero” singer on Friday filed an application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office through her company, TAS Rights Management.
The image and recordings being filed include introductions to Ms. Swift’s latest album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” and a picture of her on stage during her Eras tour wearing a sequined outfit and holding a pink guitar.
Ms. Swift is taking action because of AI technologies that allow users to generate new content that mimics an artist’s voice without copying an existing recording.
Actor Matthew McConaughey has filed similar applications in recent months.
