Kelly Clarkson releases bird-themed ornaments after feud with Brooklyn shop

by · The Washington Times

Singer Kelly Clarkson released two sets of bird-themed ornaments as part of her 2026 holiday collection at Wayfair following a public dispute over a musical bird sculpture in a New York City design shop.

The dispute was between the singer and Art of Play, a Brooklyn Heights design shop, over a musical bird sculpture named Molly.

Ms. Clarkson accused the shop of refusing to sell her the piece and compared the experience to a scene in “Pretty Woman,” writing on social media: “Just drove all the way to Brooklyn to check out this store I thought looked really rad and had a few things in mind to buy and literally was looked at as if I couldn’t afford it and was told he could find something comparable for me. Wow, dude. You’re an idiot and just lost a huge sale. But y’all should go check out Art of Play in Brooklyn if you enjoy being treated like Julia Roberts character in Pretty Woman. For sure, check it out.”

Art of Play said the piece was not for sale, but online photos later showed it carried a $15,000 price tag, according to Rolling Stone.

Ms. Clarkson replied to the store online: “You’re not only rude, you’re also a liar.”

Art of Play co-owner Adam Rubin told Rolling Stone that Ms. Clarkson’s posts have drawn a swarm of negative attention to his small business. Ms. Clarkson has not responded to his latest interviews.

Ms. Clarkson has her own home decor line at Wayfair. The bird sets, each with six ornaments, are priced at $23.95 for brushed metal and $64.99 for gold-finished iron.
