Former ‘Home Improvement’ star Jonathan Taylor Thomas detained, charged in Los Angeles
by Juliet La Sala · The Washington TimesPolice in Los Angeles briefly detained former child actor Jonathan Taylor Thomas this week on charges of obstruction and public intoxication.
Mr. Thomas, who starred in the 1990s ABC sitcom “Home Improvement,” was detained at the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station on Monday and released the next day.
Lost Hills deputies patrolling Westlake Village saw a vehicle stopped at an intersection with a green light, blocking traffic. They identified a passenger as Mr. Thomas, who “appeared intoxicated, continually exited the vehicle and approached the deputies, distracting them from their investigation.”
Authorities said that as deputies attempted to detain him, Mr. Thomas “kicked a deputy in the stomach.” Deputies arrested, transported and charged the former actor with obstruction and public intoxication.
The 45-year-old Mr. Thomas, whose real name is Jonathan Taylor Weiss, portrayed Randy Taylor on “Home Improvement” and voiced young Simba in Disney’s 1994 animated feature “The Lion King.”
