Rapper Waka Flocka Flame to perform at Wizards’ opener

by · The Washington Times

Rapper Waka Flocka Flame is scheduled to perform at halftime of the Wizards’ season opener against the Milwaukee Bucks Wednesday, the Washington NBA team announced Thursday.

The 40-year-old rapper, best known for hit songs “No Hands” and “O Let’s Do It,” will grace the court alongside the Wizards’ dance team.

To mark the start of the season, the Wizards will also give out rally towels to the first 15,000 fans in attendance at Capital One Arena. Plus, the first 1,000 fans who are Capital One credit card holders will receive a free scarf.

The franchise will also have a new in-arena host: DJ Akademiks, best known for his YouTube commentary and “The Night Show” on local radio station WPGC 95.5.

The Wizards haven’t made the playoffs since 2021, and they’re hoping to do so this season. Rookie A.J. Dybantsa — the top pick in this year’s draft — is expected to anchor the starting lineup alongside All-Stars Anthony Davis and Trae Young.

“You can tell,” forward Justin Champagnie said after Wednesday’s practice. “You could feel the energy is shifting.”
