Ex-‘SNL’ cast member Ego Nwodim mocks Shane Gillis’ controversial monologue

by · The Washington Times

Former “Saturday Night Live” cast member Ego Nwodim responded on Instagram to a joke by comedian Shane Gillis during his opening monologue that has drawn wide criticism.

Mr. Gillis told the studio audience that women at the gym these days “dress like whores,” then described tight-fitting shorts some women wear. He warned the audience not to look at them because they are recording themselves and posting their videos on TikTok.

Ms. Nwodim on Monday posted a photo of herself at the gym with the caption, “Whore reporting for duty.” In a second post of her post-workout meal, she wrote, “Getting my 30 grams of protein in after heauxing.”

Ms. Nwodim was an “SNL” cast member for seven seasons, from 2018 to 2025, and left before Season 51.

“Schitt’s Creek” co-creator Dan Levy also criticized the joke on Instagram, writing that women wearing shorts at the gym doesn’t make them whores and that it “makes the men calling them whores misogynists.”

Mr. Levy added that he was “speechless” that such a joke could air on live national television and said more men need to oppose it.
