‘Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood’ to get its own YouTube channel for the first time
by Brad Matthews · The Washington TimesFred Rogers Productions, the company behind “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood,” is working with a British digital studio to bring the TV show to YouTube for the first time.
Episodes of “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” originally ran on National Educational Television and its successor PBS from 1968 until 2001.
The show has never had an official YouTube channel, though at least one episode is currently up on YouTube on the PBS Kids channel. Fred Rogers Productions is now partnering with British company Little Dot Studios to create one, per a release from the latter.
The channel will include full episodes, clips and compilations. Kristin DiQuollo, the co-executive producer of Fred Rogers Productions, told Axios that the channel will be up sometime this summer.
“[Moving to YouTube] is part of our long-term digital strategy, but the timeless messages of Fred Rogers are important for parents, and we want to find new ways to bring that forward to new fans,” Ms. DiQuollo told Axios.
