Rapper Lil Nas X’s criminal case dismissed as long as he continues mental health treatment

by · The Washington Times

A Los Angeles County judge dismissed rapper Lil Nas X’s battery case on Monday, ordering him to enter a two-year mental health diversion program.

Superior Court Judge Alan Schneider could dismiss the charges entirely in April 2028 if the rapper follows the treatment plan.

“When treated, he is much better off, and society is much better off,” the judge said, according to Rolling Stone.

Lil Nas X was arrested in August 2025 on charges of attacking police officers while he was walking around only in his underwear and cowboy boots on Ventura Boulevard in Studio City.

After his arrest he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

The “Old Town Road” performer’s legal team argued the incident was completely out of character and a direct result of his condition.

The rapper was charged with three felony counts of battery with injury on a police officer and one felony count of resisting arrest.
