Tina Turner’s likeness, music acquired by Swedish company Pophouse Entertainment Group

Singer Tina Turner’s name, likeness and most of her music catalog rights have been acquired by a Swedish entertainment investment company.

Pophouse Entertainment Group secured the deal with global music company BMG, which will retain a percentage of Turner’s catalog, though financial terms were not disclosed, The Associated Press reported.

Turner, known as the “Queen of Rock ’n’ Roll,” died in 2023 at age 83. She won 12 Grammy Awards, sold more than 150 million records worldwide and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame twice.

Pophouse CEO Jessica Koravos cited Turner’s “incredible visual presence and stage energy” as key reasons for the acquisition, focusing on consolidating her legacy.

The company says it is not trying to function like a major label, rather, it aims to acquire around 10 to 12 unique properties with distinctive creative projects attached.

Pophouse Entertainment Group was co-founded by Bjorn Ulvaeus, formerly of the Swedish pop group ABBA.
