Sarah, Duchess of York to join ‘Coronation Street?’ Maybe one day

Sarah, Duchess of York has hinted at a possible new career move – and it requires walking on cobbles in heels.

The duchess headed to the set of Coronation Street and suggested she could make a return to the Rovers.

She visited ITV Studios in Media City, Salford Quays, after appearing with actress Sally Dynevor at the Prevent Breast Cancer charity headquarters, The Nightingale Centre in Wythenshawe, Manchester. The 64-year-old once made a cameo on the American hit, Friends, but says walking onto the famous cobbles was a “huge moment.”

The set was already decorated for Christmas, and maybe the holiday cheer brought some extra joy for the duchess. She even attempted a northern accent as she asked Dynevor, who plays Sally Metcalfe, “What will you have, lass?” She also shared she would have tried to “bamboozle” show executives to let her have a cameo.

During the visit to the set, the duchess stood behind the counter of its famous pub and remembered the late Queen Elizabeth II who had visited back in 2021.

The duchess said “we ought to drink a pint to my wonderful mother-in-law. She really loved her time here.”

The visit to the Nightingale Centre nearby was to help support a drive to raise funds to train more breast imaging specialists. The goal is to have 50 specialists trained a year when the new facility opens. Construction is set to start next month.

When asked how she was doing amid her own breast cancer battle, the duchess said: “I’m doing very well, thank you. If I was talking Gen Z I’d say ‘slay’.”

Since her own diagnosis, the duchess has used her public image to share the importance of getting checks for cancer. She was actually introduced to the Centre when both she and Dynevor appeared as panellists on ITV’s Loose Women to talk about their breast cancer journeys.
