I’m sad about Ghana’s movie industry- Pete Edochie

Nigerian star, Pete Edochie has expressed sorrow over the decline of the Ghanaian movie industry.

Speaking to the media following his arrival in Ghana, Pete Edochie shared that “I don’t feel happy that the industry in Ghana is no longer flourishing. I believe that if some of these big industries are approached to sponsor films, that tell the story of Ghana, you sustain the pressure”.

He noted that, “At one time in the life of our own industry, the marketers who were producing most of these films became big-headed. They are not really educated. If you call them chairman, they got swollen-headed. At a stage, it appeared as if the industry was going to crash. Then, some young men, who are making money now decided Look, why don’t we just try shooting this thing?”

He expressed that “I think it can be revived. I believe so, and then, of course, to get the government to invest in it. If there is some area of government that has not been well received by the populace, if you tell a story about it, the government can invest in it”.

“I hope that, we have witnessed it in our own place. The government can invest. Even policemen who can hardly give. When they discover that their public image is terrible and you make a film that will show them as the greatest that God created, they will respond. They will pay for it. You know, it can happen here”.
