Hundreds of Wichita Falls Kids Get Presents Before Holiday Break

· NewsTalk 1290

Kids are getting ready to enjoy their winter break, but some Wichita Falls elementary school students got a MASSIVE surprise this week.

Booker T. Washington Principal Dr. Synquis Lewis loves Christmas time. If fact, she went viral a few years ago surprising students with an elf on top of the school. Turns out that elf was actually Dr. Lewis greeting the kids on one of the last days before the winter break in 2023.

This year Dr. Lewis helped plan out an epic surprise for over 300 students at her school. Thanks to so many different organizations throughout Wichita Falls, students at Booker T. Washington went home with presents this week.

“This event is just; I can’t even put into words. Just the excitement and how grateful I am for this, and just to see the excitement on the students’ faces and hopefully, the relief that I put on some families to provide for Christmas,” Dr. Lewis said to KFDX.

Sadly it looks like this is Dr. Lewis' final year at Booker T. Washington and she wanted to go out with a bang. She reached out to the community to see if anyone wanted to donate presents to the kids and several organizations stepped up and helped out.

“We are one family here at Booker T. There is no other place like Booker T. Washington. So, I hope the kids just take the spirit of being a leader, being grateful, but also, if you’re able to give, if you’re able to help to do so,” Dr. Lewis said to KFDX.

Hopefully these students give a big thanks to Dr. Lewis in her final months at Booker T. Washington. Pretty sure she gave these kids a surprise they will all remember for quite some time.
