3 Major Events Happening In El Paso On BTS Concert Weekend

· NewsTalk 1290

El Paso is about to be absolutely packed the weekend of May 2, and no matter where you look, something massive is happening.

This isn’t one of those weekends where you pick one thing to do and call it a night. This is a citywide takeover.

Down at Ascarate Park, Michelada Fest returns with its signature mix of micheladas, music, and nonstop energy. It’s already one of the city’s most anticipated spring events, and it’s expected to draw huge crowds once again.

El Paso Comicon Brings Iconic Nerd Legends to the Borderland

At the same time, El Paso Comicon is taking over with a star-studded lineup of iconic nerd legends. Fans of comics, movies, TV, anime, and gaming will be flooding the convention floor all weekend long, turning downtown into a hub of cosplay, collectibles, and celebrity sightings.

El Paso’s Newest Music Festival Launches With The Flaming Lips Headlining

Music lovers won’t be left out either. El Paso’s newest music festival is launching its very first year that same weekend, and it’s coming in hot with The Flaming Lips headlining. A debut festival with a band that legendary is guaranteed to pull crowds from well beyond city limits.

And then there’s the biggest wildcard of them all. BTS, the global K-pop phenomenon, is bringing two massive shows to Sun Bowl Stadium on May 2 and May 3. Fans from across the country and around the world are expected to descend on El Paso, filling hotels, restaurants, and every available parking space in the city.

There will not be a quiet corner of El Paso that weekend. From the West Side to the Lower Valley, from Ascarate to UTEP, traffic will be heavy, patios will be full, and the city will be buzzing from morning until well past midnight.

Some skeptics worry that having so many major events stacked on one weekend means certain festivals could get overshadowed. But the reality is much bigger than that. This is a weekend built on tourism. The sheer volume of out-of-town visitors means more money flowing into local businesses, more exposure for El Paso on a national and global level, and a chance for the city to show off everything it can do.

Rather than a bust, this could end up being one of El Paso’s biggest tourist revenue weekends of the year.

If you live here, plan ahead.
If you’re visiting, buckle up.
And if you’re still deciding what to do that weekend, just know this: El Paso is going to be very, very busy.
