Carols & Community: El Paso Band ‘Jamal Streeter’ Electrifies Audiences

· NewsTalk 1290

Iris & Grizzmas Presents: Carols & Community was never just a holiday show. From the very beginning, this series was about lifting up the local nonprofits that do the hard work behind the scenes in our city and celebrating the musicians who soundtrack our lives at our favorite bars, venues, and community spaces across El Paso. It was about love, gratitude, and giving flowers while people are here to receive them.

And for our final guest, there was only one way to close it out.

Jamal Streeter and the band.

If you have ever seen Jamal Streeter perform, you already know. This is not background music. This is not something you casually listen to while scrolling your phone. This is the kind of pop, soul, and R&B that explodes off the stage, grabs the room by the chest, and demands your full attention.

Every member of this band is an absolute force on their own, and when they come together behind Jamal, they form one of the most electrifying live acts in El Paso.

On guitar, Alex Zumar delivers those powerful, cutting riffs that slice through the air and lift the entire sound to another level. Elizabeth Pursel is the heartbeat of the band, her drumming driving the rhythm with precision, soul, and pure feel. Abeni Jenae brings the synth-heavy magic on keytar, adding texture, color, and a modern edge that makes the sound feel massive. Michael Greene keeps everything locked in on bass, grounding the groove and making sure the funk never lets up.

And at the center of it all is Jamal Streeter.

High-energy vocals. Smooth delivery. Total command of the stage. Jamal moves effortlessly between power and vulnerability, making every song feel alive, urgent, and personal. There is a confidence there that does not feel forced, paired with a warmth that makes the audience feel like they are part of the moment, not just watching it.

Ending Carols & Community with Jamal Streeter and the band felt right. It felt earned. It felt like a celebration of everything this series stood for: talent, heart, and a city overflowing with artists who deserve to be heard.
