Dutch man, 37, from Hoeksche Waard arrested for drugging, raping, filming partner
A 37-year-old man from the municipality of Hoeksche Waard in Zuid-Holland is suspected of repeatedly drugging and raping his partner. Authorities say he also filmed the assaults and shared the footage in private social media groups.
The man was arrested on Monday and appeared on Wednesday before an investigating judge. There, his dentention was extended by another 14 days.
Police have long been investigating rapes in which victims are drugged by someone in their immediate circle. Investigators are also examining private social media groups where abuse images are shared and where people exchange information on how best to drug victims.
In May, the inquiry led to the arrests of several suspects in the Netherlands and the seizure of computers and phones, among other items. The 37-year-old was taken into custody after new information from foreign government agencies.
