Dutch DJ pulls out of ADE party after booking of accused rapist, French DJ Shlømo

French DJ Shlømo, who has been accused of rape, plans to make his comeback next month at the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) party Komplott x Overgave. Dutch DJ Xamuel has withdrawn from the line-up after Shlømo’s participation was announced, Parool reported.

The announcement regarding Shlømo, real name Shaun Baron-Carvais, met with immediate criticism. In February, Shlømo and several other DJs primarily from the hard techno scene were accused of sexual misconduct, including rape.

The allegations came from a former American booking agent at the well-known agency Steer Management. The agent, known as bradnolimit on social media, shared screenshots of various chat conversations he had with women who said the DJs sexually assaulted and raped them. He also shared screenshots attributed to Shlømo which allegedly show the DJ engaging in sexual misconduct, as well as a video of an old interview with Shlømo in which he mocks a woman.

In June, the collective MeTooDJ’s said on Instagram that a lawyer representing a victim filed a complaint against Shlømo alleging ape, psychological abuse, and death threats. French lawyer Inès Davau, who is representing the victim, confirmed the allegations to Parool, adding that a criminal investigation is underway against Shlømo.

Shlømo denies the allegations and says that he is the target of a “slander and misinformation” campaign.

Following the allegations, many festivals and parties canceled Shlømo’s scheduled performances.
