Man faces months in jail for sexually assaulting a horse in Oss

Harun A., 26, from Oss, faces one month in jail for sexual acts with a horse, prosecutors say. He was caught naked on September 23, 2024, by the horse’s owner in a stable at a riding school in Oss, Omroep Brabant reports. After being confronted, the suspect got dressed and ran away.

The owner said there was an overturned oil barrel behind the animal. The animal itself was also covered in oil head to toe. Those circumstances, together with A.’s DNA found on the horse, indicate he engaged in sexual acts with the horse, according to the Public Prosecution Service (OM).

Less than 24 hours after the incident, the man had also allegedly punctured the tires of two cars and smashed a car windshield in Oss. When he was arrested for those acts, an officer recognized the description of the man seen at the stables. When he was being arrested, officers found a bottle of coconut oil in his bag.

A. was not present at the hearing in Den Bosch on Friday. The prosecutor relied on the case file and surveillance footage from the stables in making the decision, given he could not speak to A.

“I see someone walking around in a balaclava, collecting items, and standing behind a horse,” he said. “You do not abuse an animal for your own gain. That is unacceptable.”
