What to expect as Nordic Bar returns to Derby's Market Place again this Christmas

by · Derbyshire Live

The Nordic bar is returning to Derby City Centre this festive period after first launching in 2023, the bar will be opening in the Market Place at the end of November.

The bar was previously set up in a number of tipis, that promised locals the chance to to grab an alcoholic festive drink in the cosy confines of the tents.

The soft launch of the bar has been announced for Thursday, November 28, with the official opening taking place from 9.30am on November 30, with the bar wrapping up on December 31 for the year. The bar will then subsequently close when the ice rink does every night.

This year's instalment was set to be on Cathedral Green. That was because the Assembly Rooms were due to be demolished this autumn, meaning that having the ice rink and Nordic Bar in their usual Market Place home would have been impractical.

Yet Derby City Council's recent U-turn on the future of the Assembly Rooms means the Market Place will once again be home to some festive favourites. The Nordic Bar will see a whole host of live music played throughout the month, and will be situated next to the Ice-rink.

However the line-up for this year's bar has not yet been released - as the announcement is in its early stages. There will also be a programme of entertainment for the whole family to enjoy, which includes music, children's entertainment, quiz nights and more.

The tipis for the bar are set up by the Sami Tipi team in collaboration with Thomas Columbo of Mambo Mobile bars. The award-winning bartender and cocktail maker hopes to bring a wide range of flavours to the tipi to add to the festive experience.

Opening times for the Nordic Bar vary, and the whole list of acts and opening times can be found by clicking here.
