Galaxy Z8 Series Continues to Prove People Love Foldables
by Tim · Droid LifeSamsung is sharing purchase insights for the latest Galaxy Z8 series, which provides a great look into not only which phone people are buying, but why. As we all might’ve guessed, Galaxy Z Fold 8 has been very popular among buyers, thanks to its form factor, but Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is also accounting for a lot of purchases.
According to Samsung’s data, combined purchases of Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra are tracking 30% ahead of last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 7, which was already setting records in 2025. Even more impressive, but maybe a bad sign for Z Flip fans, Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra sales are accounting for roughly 80% of all current Galaxy Z series purchases. Consider that Galaxy Z Flip was previously the top dog and that number is quite staggering.
Galaxy Z Flip 8 has a bit of good data too. Samsung says that 30% of Galaxy Z Flip 8 buyers switched from competing brands and that most of those buyers are first-time foldable owners. That’s great news for foldable fans in general, as it continues to emphasize the desire for companies to invest into these designs.
On a related note, I cannot wait for Apple to release its foldable iPhone. The price is going to be nuts, but I don’t think there will be a shortage of people who want to buy one. I will not be one of them, because while I can appreciate using iOS from time to time, there is no way I would spend that much money on an OS that handles notifications that poorly.
