After the success of Bethlehem Kudumba Unit (BKU), the makers of the film announced their next titled Picnic. Directed by debutant Kiran Josey, known for co-writing Premalu and BKU, the film is produced by Dileesh Pothan, Fahadh Faasil and Syam Pushkaran.
