A hundred years ago | World’s altitude record
From The Hindu Archives, August 26, 1926: The world’s altitude record has been beaten by a French Airman Callize, who ascended a height of over seven and three-quarter miles. Callize had been training for many weeks accustoming his body to rapid rarefaction of air in diving bell, but, largely owing to fatigue, he descended too quickly and was immediately seized with terrible pains and removed to the hospital.
