Sharannavaratri celebrations: Assembling of Golden Throne at Mysore Palace on Oct. 5

Khas Durbar from Oct. 11; Vijaya Yatra on Oct. 21

Mysuru: The Sharannavaratri celebrations will begin at the Mysore Palace from Oct. 5 with the assembling of Golden Throne, said erstwhile Mysore Royal Family Member Pramoda Devi Wadiyar, here yesterday.

Addressing the media persons at her residence, she said that the rituals would commence at 7.30 am on Oct. 5 with navagraha homa, shanti homa and purification rituals following which the assembling of the Golden Throne would be held between 10 am to 10.20 am.

On Oct. 11, fixing of Simha (Lion) to the Golden Throne will be held between 6 am and 7.12 am, followed by Kankana Dharane between 8.35 am and 9.05 am. Later, the ascending of Golden Throne will be held between 11.45 am and 12.05 pm. The idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari will be brought from Chamundi Thotti to Kannadi Thotti between 1.40 pm and 2.05 pm where special pujas will be offered till Vijayadashami on Oct. 21.

Oct. 16, Saraswati Puja will be held from 10.10 am to 10.30 am. The evening Durbar will be held on Oct. 17. Durgashtami Puja rituals will be held on Oct. 18 and the Mahanavami Puja will be held on Oct. 20. The puja rituals will commence with Chandi Homa at 6 am.  

Later, the Royal weapons will be taken to Sri Kodi Someshwaraswamy Temple and the same will be brought back after the puja rituals to the Kalyana Mantapa. The Ayudha Puja will take place at Kalyana Mantapa from 11.32 am to 11.52 am. Later in the evening, Durbar and Simha Visarjane will take place. Following this, puja will be performed to Royal (Pattada) Elephant, Horse, Cow, Camel and vehicles at Savari Thotti.

Oct. 21, as part of Vijayadashami, Royal Elephant, Horse, Cow and Camel will be brought to Aane Bagilu at 8 am and Uttara Puja will be performed at 8.15 am. The Vajramusti Kalaga, Vijaya Yatra and Shammi Puja will be held between 9.30 am and 10.10 am. Following the Vijaya Yatra, Kankana will be removed at the Vani Vilas Puja Room and idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari will be shifted back to Chamundi Thotti to mark the completion of Sharannavaratri celebrations.  

The Chamundeshwari Rathotsava atop Chamundi Hill will be held on Oct. 24 and Thepotsava on Oct. 25.

The dismantling and shifting of Golden Throne to the Strong Room will be held on Nov. 19.
