Forestry block fire in west Christchurch

Firefighters are still trying to bring a blaze under control in a forestry block near Oxford, west of Christchurch.

A helicopter has been grounded because of strong winds, but eight trucks are working on the fire in Woodstock Road.

Fire and Emergency say the fire is contained within the block and properties aren't under threat.

It's urging people not to light fires today because of strong winds in Canterbury.
