No third gender option: Transgender lawyer speaks up

Transgender advocate and lawyer Ravina Singh stopped a Rajasthan Roadways bus journey after objecting to the lack of a third-gender ticket option. Travelling from Jaipur to Jodhpur, she questioned why the system only allowed male or female categories, insisting on a ticket that matched her identity.

The disagreement escalated to the point where the entire bus was taken to the Dudu police station. Ravina invoked Article 14 and the NALSA judgment, arguing that her legally recognised rights were being ignored. Police later mediated and allowed the bus to continue.
