Why are Mumbai locals introducing non-AC automatic doors?

To reduce the thousands of deaths caused by commuters falling from overcrowded, open-door trains, Indian Railways is introducing non-AC locals with automatic doors. Built by the Integral Coach Factory, these trains aim to combine affordability with safer travel, unlike AC locals which remain out of reach for many daily commuters. But the big question is ventilation. In a city known for its heat and packed peak-hour crowds, can closed-door non-AC trains remain comfortable — or will they create new challenges?
