Goddess Biraja’s chariot rolls in Jajpur on Navratri

Jajpur: The Rath Yatra of Maa Birja, the presiding Goddess of Jajpur in Odisha, has begun. And for this the festive fervor has gripped the entire area.

The ‘Ratha Pratishtha’ was performed after the initiation of the ‘Ratha Puja’ as per traditional rituals. Then the representative idol of the Goddess was established on the chariot and then the chariot pulling was commenced.

Goddess Biraja’s this 9day journey journey has started from Pratipada. And it will continue for 9 days till the Maha Navami. As per the ritual, the mother Goddess will slain Mahishasur in the ‘Lakhabindha parva’ and then will return to the temple.

The work of the chariot construction started on the Suniya tithi. First the ‘Bilwabarana’ was done and the tree was then chopped.

Odisha Jajpur’s Goddess Biraja peetha is the only Shakti Peetha in the whole country where a Rath Yatra is organised during Navratri.

It is believed that getting darshan of Maa Biraja during this Navratri will bestow someone with virtues of millions of births. Hence, a huge crowd of devotees is witnessed at the shrine.

Keeping this in mind, the police administration has made all requisite arrangement. The temple administration also has prepared properly so that the Sharadiya celebrations of Maa Birja should be conducted swiftly and peacefully.
