Baranga: A normal-coloured tigress, Jayashree has given birth to three cubs at Nandankanan Zoological Park in Bhubaneswar on Saturday. However, two of the cubs died and only one cub has survived. The cub  is being cared by the veterinarian and staff of the Zoological park. The birth marks Jayashree’s first litter and follows a gestation period of 101 days, zoo authorities said.

Zoo officials said that as this was her first delivery, the tigress appeared to lack adequate maternal instinct, which affected her ability to care for the cubs. The tigress could not even fed her cubs. This is the first time the 34-year-old tigress has given birth.
