Jagatsinghpur: Jhankad Maa Sarala’s 16-Day Parba Puja Begins From Mulashtami with Special Rituals, Watch

Jagatsinghpur: The famous shrine of Maa Sarala at Jhankad under Tirtol block of Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district has come alive with devotional fervour as the 16-day Parba Puja commenced from Mulashtami.

The sound of bells, fragrance of incense and lamps, and chanting of sacred mantras have created a spiritual atmosphere at the shrine. Each day of the 16-day festival will witness different rituals, special attire of the deity and various offerings.

Maa Sarala is being worshipped following the traditional ‘Shodasha Upachara’ rituals. The daily rituals include Mahasnana, special adornment of the Goddess, puja and different varieties of Bhog and Naivedya.

One of the major attractions of the festival is the special Besha of Maa Sarala. Following Mahasnana in the morning, the Goddess is adorned in a special attire and worshipped as per tradition. In the evening, devotees get an opportunity to witness the much-awaited ‘Suna Besha, the golden attire of the deity.

Several traditional offerings, including Manda Bhog, Chuda-Ghee Bhog, different varieties of Pana and other Naivedya, will be offered to Maa Sarala during the festival.

Chandi Path, Mahayajna and other sacred rituals will also be performed on different days of the festival. Pandas and priests of the shrine are carrying out their respective Sevas in accordance with the age-old traditions.

Meanwhile, devotees have started thronging the Maa Sarala shrine to seek the blessings of the Goddess. There is a popular belief among devotees that prayers and vows made at the shrine with devotion help fulfil their wishes.

The 16-day celebration is not merely a religious ritual but also a festival deeply rooted in tradition, devotion and the enduring faith of devotees in Maa Sarala.
