Watch: Mauni Amavasya snan in Prayagraj, Lakhs of devotees reach to take holy bath

Prayagraj: Devotees in large number gathered in Prayagraj’s Sangam ghat to take holy bath on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya which is observed on new moon day in the Magha month.

People have started gathering in large numbers from yesterday evening and today morning to take a holy dip in the Sangam river at Prayagraj’s Magh Mela Kshetra and were also showered with flower petals from helicopter.

Triveni Sangam is pilgrimage site for Hindus, famous for the Kumbh Mela. It is the sacred confluence of three rivers Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati.

Mauni Amavasya Snan is the king of all the holy bathing performed to wash away bure karm, past sins and takes you towards ultimate truth.

The authorities have made necessary safety arrangements to manage the heavy crowd and ensure the security of people and smooth functioning of the event. They are expecting around 5 million people to gather in ghat for the holy dip.

Devotees also reached Ghats of Ganga, Yamuna and other important rivers in other cities like Varanasi, Mirzapur, Hapur, Ayodhya and Kanpur to take holy bath and offer prayers.
