2nd batch of Shri Amarnath pilgrims flagged off from Jammu - Greater Kashmir

Jammu, June 29: Second batch of 4029 Shri Amarnath pilgrims Saturday left Jammu for the 3880-meter high cave shrine nestled in South Kashmir.

They left Bhagwati Nagar base camp (Yatri Niwas) in a fleet of 200 vehicles amid heavy security.

   

Officials said, “Of 4029 pilgrims, 2179 pilgrims, comprising 1670 males, 332 females, 2 children, 144 Sadhus and 31 Sadhvis left for Pahalgam in a convoy of 96 vehicles. For Baltal, 1850 pilgrims, comprising 1265 males, 448 females, 19 children, 87 Sadhus and 31 Sadhvis left in a fleet of 104 vehicles.”

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha had flagged off the first batch from Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu on Friday for Shri Amarnath pilgrimage which formally began on Saturday from twin routes of Pahalgam and Baltal in Kashmir division.
