Meat shops and slaughterhouses in Coimbatore to remain closed on January 15

All shops selling meat, including goat, beef, chicken, and pork, within Coimbatore Corporation limits, will remain closed on 15.01.2025 in observance of Thiruvalluvar Day. The Ukkadam, Shakthi Nagar, and Podanur Corporation markets will also be closed.

Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner, M. Sivaguru Prabakaran, has stated that violations will result in fines, property seizure, and license cancellations, as per the Corporation’s bylaws.
