Reb Shlomo Mordechai Hager, a respected Rabbi who lived in Crown Heights and a member of the Vizhnitz Rabbinic family, passed away on Sunday, 29 Teves, 5786. UPDATE: The Levaya will not pass by 770 and will go straight to the cemetery from Shomrei Hadas.

Reb Shlomo Mordechai Hager, a respected Rabbi in New York and a member of the Vizhnitz Rabbinic family, passed away on Sunday, 29 Teves, 5786.

He was 94.

Rabbi Hager lived in Crown Heights since 1948 and was known as a great Gaon and Talmid Chacham. His family is known to be rooted in Torah and Chesed, and are descended from a distinguished lineage of Rabbanim and Admorim of Vizhnitz.

Reb Shlomo Mordechai was the father of the philanthropist Reb Yitzchak Meir (Isaac) Hager, a well known Crown Heights askan and supporter of communal causes.

The levaya will take place on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Shomrei Hadas in Boro Park to burial at Old Montefiore Cemetery.

Update: The levaya will not pass by 770.
