by COLlive Editor · COLliveMrs Pearl Herson, wife of Rabbi Moshe Herson, the Rebbe’s Head Shliach to NJ and Dean of the Rabbinical College of America, passed away on the first day of Chanukah, 5785.
She was 85.
Born in the Bronx, Mrs. Herson was raised in a Boyaner Chassidic family. After marrying Rabbi Herson in 1962, Mrs. Herson moved to NJ and joined her husband in his devotion to the Rebbe’s shlichus. Chabad’s immense impact of Torah and Mitzvos in NJ is largely due to her credit.
Mrs. Herson taught for many years at NJ’s Hebrew Youth Academy, at Cheder Lubavitch in Morristown, and at the Hebrew School of Chabad of Northwest NJ. She raised a proud Chabad family, spreading the Rebbe’s message in many communities.
Her commitment to Yiddishkeit and the Rebbe’s calling of Shlichus, allowed the Rabbinical College of America and Chabad of the State of New Jersey to flourish over the past 50+ years.
She is survived by her husband Rabbi Moshe Herson and children: Rabbi Asher Herson, Mrs. Sara Brafman and Rabbi Mendy Herson, all Shluchim in New Jersey, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The funeral will pass the Rabbinical College of America promptly at 7:00 this evening.
The Levaya will take place tomorrow, Friday, 10:30 in front of 770 and 11:30 at Montefiore Cemetery.
