by COLlive Editor · COLliveThe heavens cried at the Levaya of Shterna Sarah Tevel obm, who passed away on Erev Shabbos at the age of 69.
Despite the steady rain, a large crowd gathered to pay last respects and accompany her on her final journey.
Family, friends, neighbors, and the many women and girls whose lives she touched were in attendance, all expressing profound shock and sadness at her sudden passing.
At the Levaya, people described her extraordinary personality and warm heart. The first thing on her mind, and what she was constantly speaking about, was Moshiach and how we are “mamash in the Geulah.”
In a remarkable display of what she stood for — even as two vans stood ready to transport people to the Beis Hachaim, several girls and ladies who were approached to join responded, “We already arranged to go out on Mivtzaim now, to do Mivtza Neshek in her zechus — as we know this would be her will.”
She was truly and selflessly dedicated to the Rebbe’s Mivtzoim and teachings, living them in a brilliant and deeply practical way.
She was predeceased by her father, Reb Avraham and mother Doba Gitta Tevel a”h, and her brother Reb Yossi Tevel a”h.
She is survived by her brother Reb Pinchos Tevel and loving nephews and nieces.
Reb Pinchos Tevel will be sitting shiva at 737 Montgomery Street
