Here’s Why Taylor Swift Skipped the Met Gala Amid Rumors She Might Attend for the First Time in a Decade

Bad news, friends: Despite those rumors saying that Taylor Swift might just show up at the 2026 Met Gala with Travis Kelce, making her first appearance at the annual event in a literal decade, she ended up once again being a no-show. The reason: She’s likely too busy preparing for her upcoming wedding. Fair enough, I guess!!

Taylor hasn't been at the Met Gala since 2016, when she showed up wearing a custom silver snakeskin minidress by Louis Vuitton with bleached blonde hair. It was truly a different time era.

As a reminder, Tay and Travis are currently planning their wedding, which is speculated to be going down in a mere matter of weeks on July 4 weekend in NYC.

Taylor’s been pretty private about plans, but did tell The Graham Norton Show that she was “so excited,” adding, “I know it’s gonna be fun to plan, because I think the only stressful weddings are the ones where you have a small amount and people are on the bubble. And you have to evaluate or assess your relationship with them to see if they can be there. I’m not gonna do that. Anyone I’ve ever talked to…it’s gonna be fun. I shouldn’t have said any of that.”
