  • Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie joined the royals for their annual Christmas day walk.
  • The sisters allegedly avoided interacting with fans, according to body language experts.
  • The royal family's walk was highly "choreographed."

There's been speculation that Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie would skip the annual royal Christmas walk, but the sisters showed up and took a stroll in public with their extended family. However, while Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their kids stopped to chat with royal watchers, Princess Beatrice and Eugenie mostly kept to themselves.

Body language expert Judi James says the walk was "choreographed" and noted that "Eugenie fiddled with the buttons of her coat in an auto-contact barrier ritual that suggested a desire to self-protect, hinting at some fear or worry about the fans' responses during this more intimate part of the outing."

She also noted that Beatrice kept a "lower profile" than her sister which "added to the drama" surrounding their appearance. "Why not walk in proudly with her sister?" Judi asked. "Eugenie has always inherited the late Queen's capacity for a confident, sustained royal smile, but there were hints Beatrice might not have felt as assured."

Either way, the royal walkabout went off without any major hiccups, and everyone was mostly focused on how outgoing Princess Charlotte was taking selfies with fans—more on that below!
