LETTER: Controlling the classroom.

As your recent editorial on school policing explains, it’s easy, quick — and mistaken — to attribute school racial discipline disparities to root causes of “bias” and “lack of administrative awareness of disproportionality.”

In a March 1 column, the Review-Journal’s Victor Joecks reported that the American First Policy Institute think tank found that “children living absent their biological father are two to three times more likely to be expelled or suspended.”

About 70 percent of Black children are born to unmarried mothers. Mr. Joecks concludes that perhaps the real root cause of racial disparities is fatherlessness.
