Power restored after high winds caused outages in Las Vegas

Strong winds left thousands of Las Vegas Valley residents without power early Friday morning.

Shortly before 6:30 a.m., NV Energy’s outage map showed that more than 2,000 customers in central Las Vegas were without power, with another 381 affected in other parts of the valley.

The map was updated just before 8 a.m., with the bulk of the outages appearing to have been resolved.

The National Weather Service had advised earlier this week that north winds would impact the area Friday morning with speeds of 35–45 mph.

The agency said the strongest winds on Friday would be near Laughlin, Bullhead City and Katherine Landing (50-60 mph).
