Woman hit by train in Sodo, trains delayed

A pedestrian was hit by a Sounder train in Seattle’s Sodo neighborhood Thursday afternoon.

The Seattle Fire Department responded around 2:30 p.m. to 2nd Avenue South and South Spokane Street, where a woman, 38, had been hit by a southbound train. First responders were able to begin life-saving treatment before the woman was taken to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition, according to the Seattle Fire Department.

Traffic and trains were briefly halted. All Sound Transit Sounder Line trains between Seattle and Pierce County were delayed, Sound Transit said at 2:45 p.m. The 3:52 p.m. Lakewood Station to King Street Station train was canceled, as was the 5:20 p.m. King Street Station to Lakewood Station train.
