Rant and Rave: Lunar New Year treats fueled reader’s urban hike

RAVE to the two women who offered my friend and me their enthusiasm and encouragement, along with a bag of Lunar New Year treats, as we set out on our urban hike from Discovery Park to Seward Park on Feb. 21. We walked over 17 miles in the rain that day. Every time we dug in for one of the treats you gave us, we thanked the universe for your kindness. You fueled our journey in more ways than one.

RAVE to Alysa Liu, the women’s figure skating gold medalist. I cried throughout her exceptional, easygoing, joy-filled performance, and especially at the end when she went around hugging people who didn’t do as well and saying thank you to people like the cameramen. It’s been the first time in a very, very long time that I was proud to be an American.
