A review meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav was held at the Collectorate Office to assess the progress of the water supply project in Chas urban area. During the meeting, Jadhav directed the implementing agency, JUIDCO, to complete Phase Two of the water supply scheme by December-January, ensuring piped water to 11,500 households. Phase One, covering 5,545 households, is already operational.

To enhance water supply services, residents were urged to install free water meters provided by the municipal corporation. Special camps will be organized for registrations, and action will be taken against illegal water connections.

Jadhav also instructed the municipal corporation to identify and protect natural water bodies within the city, emphasizing their restoration and encroachment removal. A team has already inspected 11 water bodies, with plans for action on encroachments at two locations.

In addition,  squads will be deployed in two shifts to monitor road and drainage encroachments, penalize offenders, and ensure cleanliness in the city. Directives were also issued for repairing streetlights, removing unauthorized hoardings, and exploring revenue generation through improved infrastructure and internal resources.

Officials from various departments, including Additional Municipal Commissioner Sanjeev Kumar and representatives from JUIDCO, were present at the meeting. This initiative aims to enhance urban infrastructure and public services in Chas.
