Caught using phone during exam, class 10 student commits suicide
by Staff Reporter · The PioneerA Class 10 student in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district allegedly died by suicide after being caught using a mobile phone during a pre-board examination.
The incident occurred on Monday night in Utawad village, about 10 kilometers from the district headquarters.
Naugaon Police Station in-charge Sunil Sharma stated that the student's family revealed during questioning that he had been caught using a mobile phone during an examination at a private school earlier that day.
According to the family, the school management took disciplinary action against him, which they believe may have led him to take the extreme step. The boy was rushed to a hospital by his family that night, but doctors declared him dead.
Preliminary investigations suggest the cause of death was hanging. A case has been registered, Sharma said.Rakesh Yadav, the principal of Dhar Public School, confirmed the student was caught using a mobile phone during the pre-board mathematics exam. The invigilating teacher confiscated the phone and issued the student a new answer sheet to continue his exam.
Yadav added that after completing the exam, the student informed the school office he would bring his elder brother the following day to retrieve the confiscated phone.
However, the school learned later that night about the student’s tragic death.Gaurav Raghuvanshi, a relative of the deceased, stated that the school had informed the family about the phone incident. After returning home, the student reportedly did not speak to anyone and isolated himself in a room where he allegedly took his life.Authorities are investigating the matter to establish the sequence of events and any contributing factors.
