Mazonakis Case: At Least 9 People Were Inside Clinic During Plasmapheresis

New details are emerging about the circumstances surrounding the plasmapheresis procedure undergone by Giorgos Mazonakis at the medical clinic on Karneadou Street.

According to a report by MEGA, testimonies gathered as part of the investigation indicate that at least nine people were inside the clinic when the singer suffered a serious medical episode during the procedure.

The number is significantly higher than the four employees, two doctors, Mazonakis and another patient who had previously been reported as being present.

Oxygen and antidote reportedly unavailable

According to the testimonies cited by MEGA, shortly after 4pm on the day of the incident, the 56 year old doctor called her 58 year old husband into the room where Mazonakis was undergoing plasmapheresis.

The 58 year old doctor reportedly realised the seriousness of the situation and asked for oxygen.

The testimonies allege that oxygen was not available at the clinic.

He then reportedly asked for an antidote for intoxication, which witnesses also said was not available.

The claims are now part of the wider investigation into what happened inside the clinic and the medical response that followed.

At least nine people reportedly inside the clinic

The reported number of people inside the clinic at the time has also raised questions.

While initial reports indicated that only a smaller number of people were present, testimony cited by MEGA reportedly puts the figure at at least nine.

Those present allegedly included the two doctors, clinic employees, Mazonakis, another patient undergoing plasmapheresis in an adjacent room and the daughter of the two doctors.

According to the same testimonies, the daughter was ultimately the person who contacted emergency services.

Investigation continues

The testimonies also contain a further claim concerning the moments after emergency responders arrived.

According to MEGA, the 58 year old doctor allegedly told staff that Mazonakis had died and said that “we are all jointly responsible.”

The circumstances surrounding the singer’s treatment, the medical equipment and emergency response remain under investigation.

Authorities are continuing to examine the testimony and other evidence as they seek to establish exactly what happened during the procedure and the events that followed.
