Giorgos Mazonakis’ personal doctor has told SKAI that the singer was in “excellent health” and had no known medical reason that would have led to his death.

Speaking exclusively to SKAI’s Live You, the doctor, who was also a personal friend of the beloved Greek artist, said Mazonakis had undergone extensive medical examinations following surgery earlier this year.

Mazonakis underwent laparoscopic gallbladder removal at Metropolitan Hospital in Faliro in February 2026, according to the doctor.

He said the singer subsequently underwent a comprehensive medical assessment, including magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography scans, blood tests and cardiological examinations.

“He was in perfect health. There was no reason for Giorgos to leave,” the doctor said.

Doctor says tests showed no chronic health problems

Forensic physician Dimitris Galenteris, who also appeared on the programme, said medical conditions can develop or change rapidly and that previous examinations cannot necessarily rule out a later acute problem.

“That is why we always do checks before any surgery,” Galenteris said, explaining that tests conducted several months earlier cannot by themselves establish a person’s condition at the time of a later medical procedure.

However, he said the examinations described by Mazonakis’ doctor indicated that the singer did not have known chronic illnesses that would have posed a broader long term threat to his life.

The comments come as investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding Mazonakis’ death.

Cause of death remains undetermined

The forensic doctors who conducted the autopsy reportedly concluded that the cause of death was undetermined.

No definitive cause was established during the autopsy, with attention now turning to the results of toxicological and histological examinations.

Those tests are expected to provide further evidence as authorities work to establish what caused the singer’s death.

The latest comments from Mazonakis’ personal doctor provide additional information about his medical history, but they do not establish the cause of death. The toxicological and histological findings will be important in determining whether any underlying medical or other factors contributed to his death.
